Meet the Chef
Hi, I'm Jennifer! I am located in the beautiful Lexington, KY. I started this blog because I love cooking and wanted to experience more than the usual meat and potatoes (although those are the best sometimes!) and to broaden my hubby's palette. However, I came across a challenge--I have no time! As a full time corporate accountant, daughter, wife, pet-owner, and friend, I needed easy recipes that were fast AND healthy.
My mission with this blog is to bring healthy, easy recipes that look great with minimal effort. I'll also give tips, hints, and introduce new ingredients into your everyday cooking! I grab inspiration from other bloggers and websites as well as sharing my family favorites or original recipes. Every recipe is made and tasted by myself and my team of master taste-testers (thanks family!). I support and encourage you to use local ingredients when you can (especially produce in the summer!).
I have a passion for food! I grew up with my mom cooking family dinners almost every night. My favorite and most cherished memories happened around the dinner table, laughing and hanging out with family and friends. I started learning to cook when I was about 12 (under mom's supervision), and I never looked back!
After high school, I moved to Lexington to pursue a degree in culinary arts. I completed my associate's degree in March 2008 and went on to study hospitality management. After finding out that I don't work well under immense pressure and saw that I wouldn't have the freedom that I thought working in the kitchen, I transferred to the administrative side. I continued to work in hospitality but was looking for more accounting roles. I still loved to cook. I started this blog in May 2012 as a way to feed that creativity.
Food is the one common denominator across all cultures; we all have to eat. How and what we eat might differ, but at some point, we all have to eat which is why I strive to add a little international flair to my diet by making recipes from different cultures.
Join me as I explore the culinary world with a sprinkling of the real world!
