Food for Thought: Mothers

This weekend is Mother's Day.  I am co-hosting a Mother's Day Afternoon Tea for the wonderful mothers in my life: my grandma, my mother-in-law, and my own mother.  We are having an assortment of goodies which will be on the blog over the next week or two (scones and bee sting cake!).

{My mami and me}

If you are like me, you haven't always been nice to your mother; or appreciated her.  I make fun of my mother constantly, but she knows that if she ever needs me, I will be right there.  I try to do little things for her all of the time, but once a year, on Mother's Day, I try to show her how much I truly love, appreciate, and care for her.  I know one day, we won't be together, but I will not waste a minute of the time we do have.  I won't lie though--she drive me crazy sometimes!  She doesn't listen to me, and she is sooooo stubborn!  We are very similar so I can't be too hard on her.  ;o)

So here's a poem for you Mami--although my brother and I have a crazy-awesome present and some goodies for you too!  (I did not write this poem--I'm not that skilled!)

Mother's Love

Her love is like
an island in life's ocean,
vast and wide
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the wind, the rain, the tide.
'Tis bound on the north by Hope,
By Patience on the West,
By tender Counsel on the South
And on the East by Rest.
Above it like a beacon light
Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer;
And thro' the changing scenes of life
I find a haven there.

To all of you mothers out there--THANK YOU!!!!!
